Self-Care Beyond Bubble Baths

Does it feel like all the self-care ideas out there are mostly just superficial money making schemes? I kind of think so too. It’s not that a bubble bath and expensive 3-wick candles aren’t self-care, it’s just that they aren’t ENOUGH self-care.

They make you feel cozy and maybe relaxed, but after years of struggling with my mental health and the stress of everyday life, I knew I needed self-care that was not only going to relax me, but also
HEAL me.

I needed self-care that would help lower my anxiety, help me process past traumas, and give me tools to move forward into the next 40 years of my life. I needed self-care that would keep my body from giving out on me again from depilitatating panic attacks, and would tell my brain I don't have to be in a constant state of fight or flight. I needed self-care that would help me to feel safe inside my body again. I needed self-care that would make me feel worthy of being on this beautiful Earth again.

So I started coming up with my own self-care. Unconventional activities that helped me process and start to heal traumas from my life, affirmation and mantra practices that didn’t involve staring at myself in the mirror every morning, and finding peace both within me and around me.

I wrote this book to share the practices that helped me get through the absolute lowest, darkest times of my life, in hopes that it would be able to help someone else too.

Inside the book, you will find activities like:

Journaling To Get The Uglies Out - Set a timer for 5 minutes, and write any and everything you are feeling angry or hurt or sad about. Think of it as a good bitch session with a trusted friend, only better, because you can do it while literally laying in bed in your underwear. I know journaling can seem overwhelming and like work, but when you know it will only be for 5 minutes, and will make you feel better afterwards, it’s an easy exercise to get some of those big feelings out that are overwhelming you. (and maybe even paralyzing you.. *hugs*)

Get Laid Or Lay Yourself - Besides orgasms feeling great, there is legit science behind the hormones being released while you O, actually improving your mental health! (giggity)

Play With Play-Doh - Yes, I know this sounds silly, but how great does it feel to squish Play-Doh??? The squishy-ness, the smell, the coolness of it… It’s a great mindfulness activity to bring us back into our bodies and calm our anxiety.

I hope you’ll find some peace, calm and healing within the pages of this book. In times when it feels like there is no love for us in the world, our greatest task is to find love for ourselves.

Your are loved, so very much!

Love, Haley
